Apple launching Iphone SE :) 




Apple is geared up for its ‘Let’s loop you in’ launch event later tonight, where all eyes will be on the iPhone SE. In the run up to the event we have come across numerous rumors and leaks that have given us a fair idea of what to expect from the new 4-inch iPhone. With the event kicking off later tonight at 10:30PM IST, we have collated everything that we know about the upcoming Apple iPhone SE.


According to leaked dummy units, the iPhone SE seems to look more like an iPhone 6, albeit in a 4-inch form factor. But 9To5Mac’s Mark Gurman has refuted them claiming that the upcoming iPhone will actually look ‘nearly identical’ to the iPhone 5s.




The only difference however is the phone’s edges, which will be much less shiny this time around. With minimal change to the overall design, Gurman says that buyers will be able to use their old iPhone 5s covers and cases with the iPhone SE. In line with earlier reports, the upcoming iPhone will be available in multiple color variants, including Rose Gold.

Much of the major changes are under the hood, which will put the new iPhone on par with the iPhone 6s smartphones. Besides the 4-inch Retina Display, the iPhone SE is expected to feature an A9 processor, M9 co-processor with always-on ‘Hey Siri’ feature and NFC supporting Apple Pay.

While it won’t support 3D Touch display technology, it is expected to boast 12-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording and Live Photos support. It is also expected to feature iPhone 6s-like connectivity options, which offered support for more LTE bands, and Wi-Fi connectivity that was twice as fast as previous models. Where the iPhone 5s came in 16GB and 32GB variants, the iPhone SE will be available in 16GB and 64GB storage variants.

In essence, Apple is set to launch an upgraded iPhone 5s with the internals of the iPhone 6s. With that in mind, we don’t expect the iPhone SE to be exactly affordable. Reports claim that the prices will start from $450 for the 16GB model, and go up to $550 for the 64GB model.



With India an important market for Apple, we expect the iPhone SE to be launched here sooner than later. Though the rumored prices roughly translate to around Rs 30,000, with addition of import duties, local taxes and other levies, the price could go up to Rs 40,500 in India. Similarly, the 64GB model could be priced around Rs 49,500.
